Auditions are set for Family Music Theatre’s production of Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat

We are seeking a diverse cast of all backgrounds, body types and abilities for a 30-40 member ensemble with 14-16 member children’s chorus.
Actors must be local to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. This is an unpaid community theatre show.
AUDITION DATES
(Please attend one general auditions at the New Vida Center):
Friday, April 10 : Kids from 6-7pm, Adults from 7-10pm
Saturday, April 11: Kids from 9-10am, Adults from 10am- 1pm
CALLBACKS (by invitation only): Sunday, April 12th starting at 5pm

VIDEO SUBMISSIONS: If you are unable to attend the in-person auditions, you may submit a video audition with the subject line “FMT JOSEPH-; FULL NAME” to stagemanager@gifca.org by Thursday, April 9th at 5pm! In order to be seen, the video file MUST be a YouTube or Google Drive link (make sure it is not set to private). Every submission will be seen.
SHOW SYNOPSIS One of the most enduring musicals of all time, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a lively, all-sung retelling of the Biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, and his eleven brothers. After being betrayed and sold into slavery, Joseph discovers his gift for interpreting dreams, which ultimately leads him to rise to power in Egypt under Pharaoh. Filled with unforgettable songs and diverse musical styles, the show offers an exciting and heartfelt experience for audiences of all ages.
AUDITION WILL INCLUDE:
MUSIC:
Teens/Adults: Sing your best 16-32 bars (approximately 1 min) of a published Musical Theatre song. Accompanist provided. Please bring sheet music and have your start and stop indicated on your music. No soundtracks. A capella not preferred. Please DO NOT sing from the show.
Children: Please prepare the cut below for your audition.
Children’s Chorus Audition Material
ACTING: As this show has almost no spoken dialog, you will not be required to do any reading at the audition, however you should use your performance of your song to also demonstrate your acting. During the audition you may be given some additional direction so that we can see your acting abilities. We are looking for character choices, ability to convey emotion and tell a story while singing, as well as your ability to take direction.
CALLBACKS
Those required for callbacks will be notified following the final date of auditions via email. Callbacks will include a dance call and additional vocal auditions. Not all roles will require a callback. Callback material will be posted by April 1st.
CASTING
All final casting decisions will be made after callbacks, at which time all those who auditioned will be notified via email.

If you need to cancel please email stagemanager@gifca.org. Do not “No call, No show” to your audition! That takes away another person’s opportunity and is disrespectful to all concerned.
IMPORTANT DATES (REHEARSALS & PERFORMANCES)
First Cast Meeting: May 1st at 7:00pm
First Rehearsal: May 4th at 7:00pm
Rehearsal will be May 4th - June 11th and generally run Monday-Friday from 6-10pm (most nights start at 7pm) and some Saturday mornings, depending on the cast's availability and if scenes/choreography need additional time.
A definitive rehearsal calendar, determined from the availability of those cast, will be shared at the first cast meeting. Every attempt is made to set a rehearsal calendar that is personnel-efficient prior to June 1st (Sequence Week) requiring attendance only when you are active onstage. Rehearsal times and required attendance dates will vary by character and ensemble group. Please be sure to list ALL conflicts on your audition form, including days we do not specify we have rehearsals. Any conflicts must be specified on audition sign-up form. Set, props, & costume workdays will be on Saturdays.
Starting June - REQUIRED ATTENDANCE FOR ALL. No individual conflicts will be accepted. Cast MUST be available for all final rehearsals and performances:
